SFB 456:  Target Structures for Selective Tumor Interventions

Subject Area Medicine
Term from 1999 to 2010
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5483209

The collaborative research centre 456 aims at the identification of selective target structures for efficient interference with tumorogenesis and tumor progression, with special emphasis on gynaecological, intestinal and haematologic tumors. A major interest lies in the prevention of tumor evasion, focussing on cell adhesion, micrometastasis and the development of gentherapeutic approaches. In addition, immunotherapeutical strategies are developed which intend to specifically enhance presentation of tumor-associated antigens and expansion of tumor-specific T cells. The collaborative researach centre 456 represents an important infrastructure as a centre of translational medicine in the field of oncology.
