from 2012 to 2017
Project identifier

Reconstructive mitral valve surgery requires precise assessment and interpretation of the complex geometry and function of the valve. The aim of this project is a Cognitive Surgical Assistant (CoSA), which provides the surgeon with relevant geometric and functional knowledge as a new, quantitative decision support tool. The experience of the surgeon, the rationale behind intraoperative decisions and the course of the surgery will be recorded, analyzed and interpreted together with pre-, intra- and postoperative quantitative parameters. The results will be presented to the surgeon by the CoSA system.
