Project Details
Behavioral and neural effects of practitioner communication on speech perception, treatment expectation, and treatment outcome (A19*)
Subject Area
Human Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422744262
The project will investigate how the perception of the practitioner’s warmth and competence influences an individual’s subsequent perception of speech and pain. By combining a large-scale online investigation to identify relevant stimulus material with two fMRI studies, the project will trace the influence of practitioner communication from the decoding of communication-induced expectations to their influence on subsequent speech processing and pain treatment expectations and outcome (pain perception).
