Project Details
How variance in observations of respiratory symptoms shapes first-hand experiences (A18*)
Subject Area
Human Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422744262
Project A18 N will investigate how treatment expectations induced by observing treatment benefits or failures in others contribute to symptom perception and treatment responses in human models of interoception and external threats to bodily integrity (i.e., pain). Using a Bayesian perspective, the project will address how the noise (uncertainty) that inherently accompanies our observations of others’ perceptions in a social world shapes first-hand experiences of treatment outcomes.
