It is the projects main aim to evaluate the key role of Permian and Triassic salt as a main controlling factor during the development of the Central European Basin (CEB). Numerous studies over the past 50 years in this basin have covered many aspects of the individual disciplines within geology and geophysics. Models for salt dynamics and kinematics have also been proposed previously. The role of salt within the framework of a highly dynamic and heterogeneous structural evolution within the deep and shallow continental crust, and the corresponding development of a number of sedimentary basins of economic importance in the area of interest, has to date not been fully appreciated and understood. ...
