Fragmented Worlds of Work in the (Post-)Pandemic: The Production of Inequality through Figures of Migrant Workers (A04)
Subject Area
Empirical Social Research
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 501120656
The project investigates the production and legitimisation of hierarchisations and segmentations in the world of work during and after the Corona pandemic through figures of ›migrant workers‹. Case studies examine fields of work in which unequal working- and employment-conditions are widespread in Germany due to outsourcing, temporary agency work and similar, and in which migrants are strongly represented: Logistics, hospitality and industrial production. The project analyses documents and qualitative interviews with representatives from business associations and unions, personnel managers, supervisors and (non-)migrant workers.
