C5a receptor 1 activation as a regulator of autoantibody production in pemphigoid disease (A03)

The complement cleavage fragment C5a is a critical driver of inflammation during the effector phase of pemphigoid diseases (PDs). In contrast, the role C5a on the induction and maintenance of inflammatory IgG autoantibodies (AAbs) remains elusive. Here, we will determine the impact of C5a-driven C5aR1 activation on the formation of collagen type VII-(COL7) specific IgG AAbs and their specific IgG-Fc glycosylation pattern in an active PD model. We expect a detailed understanding of the C5aR1-mediated mechanisms underlying the induction, maintenance, and isotype switching of inflammatory COL7-specific IgG AAbs.
