Statistical Physics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Systems, Soft and Fluid Matter, Biological Physics
Term since 2021
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 434434223

In B3 a smart sensor system for auditory signals will be developed, providing pre-processing of information at the sensor level and adaptation to the actual hearing environment. The desired nonlinear dynamics of the MEMS sensors arising from internal coupling and nonlinear feedback mechanisms will be tuned by a suitably designed controller to achieve dynamical manipulation. We intend to use local learning rules and mechanical memory to adapt the global system dynamics for optimal sens¬ing parameters and will consider adaptive and learning-based (nonlinear) control concepts. Implementation will include memristive coupling (from project C1) and nonlinear MEMS cantilevers (from project C7).
