Project Details
Neurobiological mechanisms and temporal dynamics of negative treatment expectations in an animal model of sickness behavior (A10)
Subject Area
Biological Psychiatry
Term
since 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 422744262
Project A10 focuses on the molecular and neurobiological mechanisms of sickness-induced treatment expectations and their physiological consequences. The project will investigate the molecular and neurobiological basis of sickness-related negative treatment expectation by (i) targeting neuronal activity in the insula and amygdala during the formation and retrieval of the negative memory trace using chemogenetic manipulations; (ii) investigating the role of prostaglandins in the formation of sickness-related negative treatment expectations; and assessing (iii) the temporal dynamics of autonomic responses and (iv) generalization effects to different treatment cues.
