The role of self-generated expectations and the limits of the Bayesian pain model (A02)

Project A02 showed that side effects and agency can have positive modulatory effects on treatment expectations and their impact on pain. In the 2nd funding period, A02 will focus on the role of agency in the emergence of expectations and on the role of spontaneous fluctuations in attentional focus that influence expectations. In addition, this project will address the concept of Bayesian causal inference to explore neurocomputational mechanisms underlying pain expectation effects.
