The reunification of spouses from third countries that require a visa to enter the European Union are subject to institutional and, in particular, governmental control. This project will examine the value systems as well as the strategies and practices employed by agents and institutions within this area of observation. The project will focus on marriage migration from Russia to Germany and analyze how institutions in Sainkt Petersburg, Moscow and Novosibirsk conduct examinations prior to family reunifications. Furthermore, it will examine which directives and discourses are employed in these cases and how they direct the attention of the agents in practice.
