We study quantum particles interacting with electromagnetic fields. In this general formulation, the dynamics of the quantum system are extremely complicated. Depending on the physical situation certain terms in the Hamiltonian simplify. A first step towards the study of full dynamics is the investigation of static and quasistatic properties of the quantum system. Among others, the questions we investigate concern dynamical localization/delocalization, interatomic and intermolecular forces such as the van der Waals force, a special type of chemical reaction called isomerizations, and fine spectral properties of quantum systems. This includes cases where the minimum energy, the ground state energy, is at the edge of the continuous spectrum.
