Prospection — the ability to represent what might happen in the future — is an essential cognitive capability of robot agents, which is not a single, stand-alone reasoning method, but rather an ensemble of different modes of future thinking, including simulation, prediction, imagistic reasoning, intention formation, and planning. In phase II, Subproject R03 investigates prospection in robot agents by designing, developing, and studying a knowledge representation and reasoning (KR&R) framework for prospection that includes and maintains different forms and modes of prospection.
