Ontologies with Abstraction ((05) P02)
Subject Area
Image and Language Processing, Computer Graphics and Visualisation, Human Computer Interaction, Ubiquitous and Wearable Computing
Term
since 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 329551904
The methods for ontology approximation developed in phase I will continue to be used in the subsequent phases of EASE, but the focus of this subproject will change to the topic of abstraction in ontology-based KR. This focus shift is motivated by the insight gained in phase I that a KR architecture for everyday activities mastered by robotic agents crucially needs to support multiple levels of abstraction. Our main aim in phase II is to design ontology languages that support multiple levels of abstraction, finding a good compromise between expressive power and computational complexity.
