Hippocampal adult neurogenesis has been linked to resilient behavior, however the mechanistic basis is still unclear. It seems that not only higher rates of neurogenesis protect against chronic social defeat stress in rodents, but also the neuronal networking profile of adult born dentate gyrus granule cells. The main goal of the last funding was to elucidate individual correlates of presynaptic connectivity in adult born neurons in resilient and susceptible animals. Since we did not find evidence for our hypothesis, we now aim at identifying divergent neuronal network activity of adult born granule cells by using a novel AAV-tagging system including chemogenetic methods.
