The project researches the professional career of the outstanding and controversial landscape architect Gustav Allinger (1891 1974) from the late years of the German Empire through the Weimarer Republic and National Socialism into the early years of the Federal Republic of Germany. It contributes to the discussion about the professional development of landscape architecture within its social and political context. In an exemplary way this research allows to follow professional change in the course of the 20th century. For the first time and based on comprehensive research of Allinger's estate, accessible in a find book, the work and the professional activities of this landscape architect become presented in its entirety and placed in a broader social and professional frame. The monograph provides fundamental material for further research and will also stimulate teaching. The renewal application shall allow to finish work on the manuscript.
