2.2 ObjectivesWe identified two novel ligands of the WRC, Ena and GUKh, which are required for distinct WRC-dependent processes during oogenesis. Our data suggest a differential requirement for Ena and GUKh in regulating WRC function in follicle cell migration and nurse cell actin and membrane integrity, respectively. In the next funding period we want to address the following major questions: Is Ena function required for collective follicle cell migration and global egg rotation?How does Ena act on WRC-driven cell protrusions and follicle cell migration?How do SH3 interacting proteins, such as Abl, negatively regulate WRC-Ena interaction in vivo? How does GUKh act through the WRC on nurse cell actin and membrane integrity?Does GUKh regulate the microtubule-dependent transport of the WRC to the cell cortex?Does GUKh regulate phosphoinositide signaling or trafficking?
