Final Report Abstract

The project “The function and role of Basal Ganglia Pathways: From single to multiple loops” has been funded as part of the German-Japanese Collaboration in Computational Neuroscience initiative. It combined neuro-computational modelling of Basal Ganglia pathways with basic neuroscience research and patient studies. We developed a novel interpretation of the pathway between the subthalamic nucleus (STN) and the external globus pallidus (GPe). Further, we increased our understanding of changes in the Basal Ganglia pathways in Huntington’s and Parkinsons’s disease.
