The Archives of the German Youth Movement hold the key collection of early photographs on the (bourgeois) german youth movement in the first third of the 20th century. Including more than 40.000 images, the collection of the Berlin photographer Julius Groß (1892-1986) is essential for research on the German past concerning the history of society, culture, mentalities and generations. As the photographs document any crucial events, meetings and activities of the „Wandervogel“ und „Bündische Jugend“ in and around Berlin they represent the main visual memory of this topic. The project aims at giving full access to the collection by providing data and images in the database of HADIS (Hassian archives, documentation and information system) which is connected to other regional, national and international archival portals like BAM. Thus the permanent accessibility of all data is ensured.
