Project Details
Composite based on collagen, silica and calcium phosphate for bone replacement ((03) M03)
Subject Area
Biomaterials
Term
from 2010 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 107540325
Two multi-phase composites, independent from, but related to each other, will be investigated: (1) silica/collagen-xerogels containing various minerals as a third phase, and (2) gelatin-modified Ca/Sr-phosphates. These concepts of material, established in FP2, will be augmented by further development of compositions and applicability to the situation inside a fractured, systemically altered bone. The aim is a material structure, which is oriented on the natural example and which meets necessary requirements of material-tissue interactions (immune response, macrophage polarization, remodelling etc.) as well as facilitates local release of pharmaceutical agents and factors.
