The derivation of kinetic equations on the basis of the time-dependent N-particle Schrödinger equation, N very large, persists as an outstanding mathematical challenge. However, there have been promising advances over recent years. In particular, important insights are gained from the study of the kinetic limit for the corresponding classical field theory, namely the nonlinear Schrödinger equation. As a crucial simplification, in the associated Duhamel expansion the operator ordering can be ignored. In our project we build on this progress and plan to explore the kinetic limit for equilibrium time correlation functions of weakly interacting quantum fluids.
