Project Details
Mechanisms of the photochemical cleavage of ligands from transition metal complexes (B01)
Subject Area
Inorganic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2009 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 60803019
The project aims at unraveling the spin-dependent photochemistry of open-shell azido complexes and metallacyclobutadienes of the 3d transition metals Mn, Fe, Co and Ni on time scales ranging from several seconds down to a few tens of femtoseconds. The studies utilize non-linear laser spectroscopy with electronic excitation of the complexes in the visible-to-ultraviolet spectral region. The molecular response of the systems involves a dissociation of the metal-ligand or intra-ligand bonds and will be temporally resolved in the mid-infrared.
