Project Details
Ultrafast reaction dynamics of solvated electrons in fluid amines and amino alcohols (A03)
Subject Area

The solvated electron, i.e. the "mother" of all spin centers, represents an unpaired negative elementary charge embedded in a condensed-phase matrix, where it is self-stabilized by polarizing its surroundings. However, the exact motif of electron binding (cavity electron versus molecular radical anion cluster) is yet to be fully understood. To address this and related questions, project A3 studies ex-tensively the reaction dynamics of solvated electrons and utilizes their spectroscopic properties to learn about the electronic structure of their solvent. To this end, ultrafast nonlinear laser spectroscopy is utilized.
