Project Details
Multidimensional photoresponsive molecular architectures for high performance solar cells (A06)
Subject Area
Organic Molecular Chemistry - Synthesis and Characterisation
Term
from 2008 to 2017
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 49579428
This project aims to understand and develop multidimensional architectures for the realization of high-performance bulk heterojunction organic solar cells (OSCs). Combination of perylene-based acceptor networks with tailored low band gap donors will provide the basis for a highly efficient energy conversion. In a paradigmatic shift from morphology analysis to systematic morphology control, we will use light to add light-trapping structures, optically reshape the active layer, and incorporate nanoparticles to convert and redistribute light. Multiscale modelling of absorption, charge transfer, and light-induced structuring provides essential support to establish design rules for further OSC optimization.
