Project Details
Numerical simulation and investigation of high-speed dynamics of micro-bubbles in a liquid based on numerical modeling of multi-phase and multi-material compressible flows
Subject Area
Fluid Mechanics
Term

Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 82879883
The main objective of the project is to investigate the high-speed dynamics of micro-bubbles in liquids by numerical simulation. This topic is highly relevant for the development of novel techniques in medical, environmental, and bio-physical applications. The current project focuses on (i) the development of a three-dimensional model for high-speed-bubble dynamics, (ii) the development of an accurate interface model for cavitation bubble dynamics, (iii) the development of a numerical model which is capable of representing the interaction between free-gas bubbles and cavitation bubbles, and (iv) the validation of the developed models as reliable simulation environment for further research. The improvement in modeling and numerical prediction accuracy is expected to have a significant impact on quantitative analysis in complex multi-phase and multi-material applications.
