Project Details
Linear solvers and matrix functions (B01)
Subject Area
Mathematics
Term
from 2008 to 2020
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 35592816
The goal of this project is to provide support for efficient simulations in lattice QCD through algorithmic development for the numerical kernels. The project will 1) further improve and generalize the adaptive algebraic multilevel method developed earlier, also for use with the staggered and the domain wall discretization, 2) address block and extended Krylov subspace methods for matrix functions as well as new approaches to obtain the trace of the inverse of a large and sparse matrix as required in all-to-all propagator computations, and 3) explore new finite element discretizations opening a perspective for geometric multigrid methods.
