Project Details
Quantum networks based on single photons (C02)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2008 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 43659573
The project addresses the generation of single photons and photon pairs, as well as their application in quantum information processing. Three objectives have been identified: (1) High-quality single photons are to be generated via resonant excitation of single quantum dots and resonant scattering in the Heitler regime. (2) We will generate time-bin entangled photons from single quantum dots. Stability and versatility of time-bin entanglement will be shown by means of different types of photon conversions. (3) A novel time/frequency protocol for quantum key distribution shall be demonstrated over a 500-m free-space link operated by HHI between two buildings in the city centre.
