Project Details
Atomic structure and local spectroscopy of complex oxidic structures (A03)
Subject Area
Experimental Condensed Matter Physics
Term
from 2008 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 31047526
The atomic structure of oxidic interfaces and their interface-induced specific electronic, dielectric and/or ferroelectric properties will be studied for the newly discovered two-dimensional oxide quasicrystal based on scanning tunnelling microscopy and spectroscopy (STM, STS) as well as piezo-response atomic force microscopy (PFM). The goal is the understanding of the local bonding concept and the quasicrystalline formation process with special emphasis on alternative approximant formation. For these two-dimensional oxides and related ultrathin Perovskite films, the ferroelectric nanodomain structure will be studied with the recently developed combination of STM and PFM.
