Subject Area

Term
from 2007 to 2011
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 60105810
Tropical mountain forests are increasingly endangered by anthropogenic impact. The entire project package aims at the identification of ecophysiological and ecosystem key features with regard to regulation and stability at the individual tree and the stand levels, as a basis for sustainable management and conservation of forest resources. The central project has three major goals: (1) logistical organisation of the project, (2) central data service, and (3) data synthesis and integrative utilisation. Tasks of the general project organisation will be local management, coordination of field work between the individual projects, and facilitate communication and scientific collaboration between members of the project package and with the Ethiopian counterparts. The central data bank will be based on the web-based data warehouse . The central data service includes adaptation, implementation, and maintenance of the data base. Scientific integrative data utilisation will be realised by a milestone concept with inter-disciplinary publications addressing the major goals. Further, the central project will lead the preparation of a manual for the sustainable management of the Munessa forest.
