Project Details
Modelling oceanic oxygen change from the Holocene into the Anthropocene (A01)
Subject Area
Oceanography
Term
from 2008 to 2019
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 27542298
The aim of the subproject is to carry out transient simulations with a global state-of-the-art atmosphere-ocean general circulation model in combination with a suite of biogeochemical models to investigate the spatio-temporal variability of oxygen minimum zones (OMZs) during the Holocene (last 10000 years), and over the next few centuries. Focussing on the eastern tropical South Pacific, together with data from paleo reconstructions we shall develop a coherent picture of the internal and external mechanisms driving OMZ variability.
