SFB 514:  Aktive Exploration mittels Sensor/Aktor-Kopplung für adaptive Mess- und Prüftechnik

Subject Area Computer Science, Systems and Electrical Engineering
Term from 1998 to 2001
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 5482241

The aim of the collaborative research centre 514 is to enhance theflexibility of optical inspection and measuring systems for industrialproduction processes and to enlarge the application range of thistechnology. Through coordinated interaction of various different sensors and image processing steps the measurement of additional visual features like glossiness or color textures shall be facilitated. The first research period is concerned with the development ofappropiate sensors and inspection concepts for three-dimensionalmicrostructural features. Likewise, a prototypical measuring platform is constructed to experiment with various inspection and measuringscenarios. Since traditional geometrical (CAD) models do not suffice for this purpose a special product representation is required whichconsiders particular surface characteristics as e.g. reflection properties. To test and integrate the manifold concepts an innovative agent-basedarchitecture is conceived which grants an easy extensibilty andadaptability of the system.
