Heartlands: Home as a Moral Landscape in Anglo-American Literature (C05)
Subject Area
European and American Literary and Cultural Studies
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 517096657
This subproject examines lived perceptions of home and belonging in Anglophone literature since 1970, with a focus on heartlands as moral topographies defined by strong values. We will look at contemporary transformations of home, and posit that key factors concern, on the one hand, recent processes of heritage-making (territorial branding, place-making) and, on the other, changing process of valuation and consecration on the literary field.
