Subject Area
German Literary and Cultural Studies (Modern German Literature)
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 517096657
The subproject intends to demonstrate the complementarity of home and homelessness by analyzing argumentative and rhetorical structures, communicative functions as well as aesthetic and epistemic forms within influential models of home. A corpus comprising fictional, journalistic and scholarly texts in German will be analyzed based on computer linguistic methods and socio-historically informed text interpretation. The purpose of the project is to analyze and contextualize the positive reappraisal of homelessness from the 19th to the 20th century by means of the self-narrative of its protagonists, who belong to various stigmatized social groups.
