Project Details
Phenomenology of Home in Archaic Greek Poetry (A01)
Subject Area
Greek and Latin Philology
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 517096657
The subproject explores models of home in early Greek poetry. There is no Greek term for home, and yet various genres, such as Homeric epic, Hesiod’s didactic poetry and archaic lyric poetry, describe the sense of belonging that constitutes home. It is our goal to analyze the role played by places, things, practices, human beings and times and to relate it both the literary forms and the sociopolitical contexts of genres.
