Most state-of-the art calculations of cross sections and related observables involve as intermediate steps divergent, scheme-dependent quantities. This research aims at an improved conceptual and practical framework, using novel geometric ideas. The goal is to provide novel infrared-finite building blocks for observables. This may allow us to uncover hidden structures of the final answer, and lead to easier computational methods.
