In our previous work, chelating silylenes were employed as ligands in the coordination chemistry of hard closed-shell metals. Here we were interested in the interaction of the soft Si(II) donor with the hard metal ions. Since the soft/hard interactions are unfavorable according to the Pearson concept, in most cases an additional hard donor within the ligand was required in addition to the silylene function in order to stabilize the corresponding complexes. In the course of our studies, a silaiminyl silylene was discovered that exhibits an unusual reactivity. In the proposed project, the work with the silaiminyl-silylene ligand will be expanded with regard to its coordination chemistry and the reactivity of silaiminyl-silylene with small molecules will be studied. In a second part, the synthesis of iminophosphonamido-silylenes with an additional donor function for coordination to hard metal ions will be investigated. The aim is to gain insights into the chemistry and physical properties of these iminophosphonamido-silylenes.
