The lipid crosstalk between platelets and neutrophils and its modulating effect on thrombo-inflammation

Subject Area Cardiology, Angiology
Hematology, Oncology
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 543320451

Bioactive lipids are increasingly recognized as pivotal mediators in the development and progression of thrombo-inflammatory disorders. Thus, this project will focus on the delineation of specific lipid signalling networks within and across platelets and polymorphonuclear neutrophils during thrombo-occlusive disorders. To this end, we will combine quantitative shotgun and targeted lipidomics approaches together with isotope tracer experiments. In conjunction with primary human patient samples and transgenic mouse models, molecular techniques as well as functional cell measurements such network dynamics and their impact on platelet activation and Neutrophil Extracellular Trap (NET) formation with subsequent thrombus formation wil be dissected.
