The properties of semiconducting nanowires which are grown by chemical methods in the form of rods or pillars can be adjusted in a wide range. Therefore, their use in a variety of different applications like connecting wires, diodes, transistors etc. is possible. Within the project the electronic properties of individual nanowires will be investigated. The existing methods for manipulating and contacting such wires will be improved and transport experiments will be carried out. The electronic properties of homogeneous nanowires, heterogeneously doped wires and nanowire heterostructures will be investigated. Detailed magnetotransport experiments extending up to high frequencies will allow for a understanding of the transport processes in these systems.
