Investigation of compact stars with heavy baryons and quarks: third period

Subject Area Nuclear and Elementary Particle Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Relativity, Fields
Astrophysics and Astronomy
Term since 2024
Project identifier Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 541259988

One of the central ideas of the present proposal is to connect the covariant density functional description of dense baryonic matter with its microscopic description based on the T-matrix theory. This theory is constrained by the experimental studies of nucleon-nucleon scattering and nucleonic-bound states. Qualitatively new density functionals will be developed and deployed to study compact stars. We will also study the structure and stability of hybrid stars allowing for multiple phase transitions as is the case when color superconducting phases are taken into account. A major step will be the computations of the oscillation modes of such stars and the assessment of their stability. We will assess the mass-radius diagram of compact stars, in light of the new stability conditions of hybrid compact stars.
