The study of fundamental groups of algebraic varieties is one of the central topics in algebraic geometry. It has many applications, especially in the classification theory of curves and surfaces. We propose new methods, e.g., the algorithmic consideration of the Radon transform, in order to find and study invariants of curves and surfaces.
