In this transfer project, a model developed in the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio for the description of the thermo-elastic machine behavior is modified in order to improve the applicability of the model in the industry. In subproject B06 (SP B06) of the SFB/TR, a model was developed on the basis of low-ranking delay elements, which describe the thermo-elastic machine behavior. The model shows a very good prediction accuracy. An essential step of the model development is the parameterization of the delay elements. For parametrization, load is applied to the machine. This can be, the traverse movement of an axis. At the same time, the resulting displacement of the tool center point (TCP) is measured. Since the resulting TCP error usually is pose dependent in the workspace, a volumetric measurement of the error is necessary for an accurate error description. In SP B06, this was carried out with the aid of four laser tracers. Laser tracers have the advantage that they can measure the TCP displacement volumetrically and precisely. However, they have the disadvantage that they are very cost-intensive to procure. Furthermore, parameterization with the laser tracers leads to a significant reduction in productive machine time of several weeks. Furthermore, performing parameterization of individual loads represents an unrealistic machine utilization scenario. It is possible that machine conditions occur during actual production that were not covered by the parameterization. This causes the model to lose accuracy in operation. Due to these disadvantages, it is unattractive for a company to carry out such parameterization and the model created remains unused. The aim of this transfer project is the transfer of the model for thermo-elastic machine behavior developed in SP B06 into an industrial application. For this purpose, the model of the low-ranking delay elements will be extended by a new parameterization procedure, which enables data-based and user-oriented parameterization during machine operation without using additional, expensive measurement technology or causing machine downtimes. In the industrial context, quality control of components is usually carried out. During this quality control, all critical dimensions are measured and their dimensional accuracy is checked. The measured total machining error consists of a static error caused by the displacement of the tool due to process forces, a dynamic error caused by the displacement of the tool due to temporally invariant process forces, a temporally invariant geometric machine error and the thermal machining error mentioned above. For the static, the dynamic and the geometric error, good and easily parameterizable models already exist at the WZL, which are already used in industry. With the help of these models, it is possible to isolate the thermal error from the total machining error measured in quality control.
