Subject is the spatio-temporal dynamics in lithographically prepared sub-micrometer magnetic islands with domains. Using the Brillouin light scattering technique the spin wave eigenmode spectrum is investigated as a function of the domain structure. The utilization of Brillouin light scattering in the "Fourier microscope" mode allows the determination of the spatial distribution of the spin wave mode intensities and it provides access to spin wave localization effects in individual domains. A second subject is the dynamic coupling between magnetic islands for small island separations.
