Background: Vaginal birth, free from interventions, is in need to be supported to foster short- and long term health. To deal with birth pain coping strategies are needed. Vocalization is one coping stagey to deal with birth pain, but is not research jet in depth. To face challenges self-efficacy beliefs are needed. Self-efficacy is the basis to cope with childbirth. Aim: To explore women's perceptions and experiences of vocalization and how it is related to self-efficacy. Method: Semi-structured interviews with women who gave birth to a singleton, vaginal without pharmacological pain relieve and used vocalization during labour and birth will be carried out. Thematic Analysis after Clarke and Braun will be used to analyse the data. Expected Results: Patterns and themes of vocalisation as a coping strategy during labour and birth are identified. Knowledge about vocalisation as a coping behaviour is added to the scientific community, which contributes to further research on vaginal birth free from interventions.
