The combination of improved, research-oriented NMR education and highly research-active working groups at the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy has led to a severe overload of the existing high-field research NMR spectrometers. Moreover, the 300 MHz spectrometer, which is over 20 years old, is increasingly suffering from failures. Due to the small number of research spectrometers for the entire faculty, a termial failure of this spectrometer cannot be waited for. Therefore, the acquisition of a new 500 MHz NMR spectrometer is essential to ensure the feasibility of NMR-based or NMR-using research projects in the coming years and, at the same time, to meet the increased demand for measurement time and special measurements of the faculty. This acquisition will allow not only a significant increase in the available measurement time and mitigation of the effects of a possible failure of the old 300 MHz spectrometer, but also the detection of lower concentrations of substances due to the improved dynamic and absolute sensitivity of the new generation console. Of particular importance is the use of a highly sensitive Prodigy cryosample head, necessitated by the fact that Professor Wolf's group is intensively working with air sensitive, poorly soluble phosphorus containing compounds, in which phosphorus is not involved in spin-spin interactions with protons.
