Project Details
Plasticity in thermal acclimation in selfing vs. outcrossing Capsella species (A07)
Subject Area
Evolution and Systematics of Plants and Fungi
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 512328399
A7 (Tiedemann) will study the molecular basis of differences in phenotypic plasticity at the level of gene-regulatory networks, also using aTT in Capsella as a model. In particular, the project will exploit the high level of standing genetic variation in the outbreeding C. grandiflora to identify the genetic variants causing differences in heat-responsive gene expression and the plastic acquisition of thermotolerance. Results from these analyses will be integrated with the outcome of the selection experiment in A5 to determine whether selection lines converge to specific allelic combinations at plasticity genes.
