Understanding the asymptotic behaviour of the moduli spaces of Calabi-Yau spaces at infinite distances has turned out to be crucial for the Swampland Program in string theory. In this project, infinite distance degenerations, especially in the complex structure moduli space of Calabi-Yau spaces, will be studied from various angles, including the perspective of the Gross-Siebert approach to mirror symmetry. This promises to yield important new insights into the physics of infinite distance limits of string- and M-theory compactifications.
