This project aims to investigate the interplay between geometric structures and higher algebraic structures relevant for the moduli spaces of scalar fields in string theory. One goal is to understand the connection between the two possible interpretations of Kontsevich’s extended deformation theory, as deformations either of generalized complex structures or derived categories, respectively. This will be applied to the deformation theory of the generalised complex structures used in string theory for the description of flux compactifications.
