Artificial intelligence (AI) has been named a core element of the “fourth industrial revolution”. AI is increasingly being embraced for decision-making by businesses and organizations, both across a wide array of industries (e.g., healthcare, banking, education, manufacturing, retail) and functions (e.g., marketing, operations). The central topic of our scientific network is around developing, implementing, and evaluating new AI technologies to support decision-making in businesses and organizations. As such, a distinguishing element are innovative algorithms from the area of AI (e.g., explainable AI, generative AI, large language models, probabilistic ML, causal ML, etc.) that allow for new insights in practice and, on top of that, hold great potential to inform and improve decision-making. In particular, we plan our network as an interdisciplinary initiative that pools and exchanges innovative AI technologies from various sub-fields of business research (e.g., marketing, operations) through an integrated format.
