By using organic charge-transfer salts, having model character for strongly correlated electrons, the following fundamental aspects will be explored: (1) The universal properties of the Mott transition, (2) the effects of charge degrees of freedom in systems on the insulating side of the Mott transition; (3) various spin-liquid ground states and instabilities in strongly frustrated quasi-2D Mott insulators, and (4) the unusual metal-insulator transition in k-(BEDT-TTF)2Hg(SCN)2Cl.
