Project Details
CD83-based immunomodulation in ocular surface inflammation such as dry eye (B03)
Subject Area
Ophthalmology
Term
since 2024
Project identifier
Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) - Project number 501530074
We will investigate CD83-based immunomodulation in ocular surface inflammation. We have previously shown that soluble CD83 (sCD83) effectively resolves ocular inflammatory immune responses in murine corneal transplantation. Mechanistically, regulatory T cells and tissue-repair macrophages are induced for resolution of inflammation. Using the Sjögren-like dry eye syndrome in TSP-1 deficient mice, we now aim to develop the basis for new dry eye disease therapies. In addition, we aim to use sCD83 to modulate the inflammatory immune response associated with herpetic stromal keratitis.
